Job summary

ASARCO LLC is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for all engineering activities across its multi-year expansion of Concentrator and Tailings Storage Facility. The role reports to the Project Director and oversees engineering governance from pre-feasibility through closeout.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team, ensure compliance with standards and safety, collaborate with EP/CM partners, operations, procurement, construction, and commissioning

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 15+ years of progressive project management in heavy industry.
• Alternative: high school diploma with 20+ years of progressive project management experience in large-scale mining projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of engineering standards, project controls, cost estimating, scheduling and risk management.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and SME teams to apply codes, standards, and best practices across the project portfolio.
• Direct and review engineering activities to ensure work quality meets objectives and standards.
• Collaborate with EP/CM teams, site operations, maintenance, procurement, construction, commissioning, and external consultants.
• Develop fit-for-purpose design solutions for the full spectrum of work fronts in the portfolio.
• Establish a culture of continuous improvement through documenting and implementing standards and best practices.
• Ensure engineering processes, systems, and software are setup and audited for compliance.
• Provide operational engagement in project execution focusing on change management and performance assurance.
• Support new designs with documentation and best practices for deployment.
• Review inputs to EEP and PEP to ensure alignment with project scope.
• Guide engineering scheduling and staffing to support the schedule and budget.
• Develop strategies to accelerate design and procurement progress and present updates to sponsors.
• Coordinate budgeting & cost control for all deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Operations and other groups to maintain execution alignment.
• Identify new technologies to optimize equipment selection and project cost.
• Contribute to risk assessments, HAZOPs, design reviews, and construction reviews.
• Perform other duties as requested.
