Job summary

Key People in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support a major transportation infrastructure program. The role partners with Project Manager, Superintendent and leadership to manage controls, cost tracking, contracts, quality, and closeout.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in heavy civil, rail, transit, or electrical infrastructure projects, with strong contract administration and cost forecasting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of construction industry experience.
• Experience on large, complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of contracts, plans, specs, and project documentation.
• Experience with cost tracking, change management, and financial reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in execution of large projects.
• Review drawings, specs, contracts, subcontracts, and requirements.
• Track and process change orders, owner payments, and claims.
• Identify scope changes and document compensation or schedule impacts.
• Monitor costs and maintain cost and production reports.
• Assist with cost forecasting and financial reporting.
• Analyze labor costs, quantities, production, and project performance.
• Coordinate with field operations to verify quantities.
• Assist with procurement, subcontractor coordination, and material tracking.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, and drawings revisions.
• Research quality control issues and coordinate solutions.
• Verify compliance with plans, specs, codes, and contract requirements.
