Ryan Companies US, Inc. in Kansas City is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to help drive commercial building projects from planning through closeout.

You will coordinate RFIs, shop drawings, subcontracts, and cost controls while contributing to project schedules and safety practices. The role requires 2-4 years of commercial construction experience, a bachelor's degree in construction engineering/management, and the ability to read engineering drawings and cost records.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of successful commercial construction experience in a design-build environment.
• A bachelor's degree in construction engineering/management is required.
• You must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost coding systems.
• Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing is required. It's expected that you are familiar and comfortable with current technology.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and updating the project schedule and meetings.
• Assist Project Manager with project procurement through development of subcontractor RFP bid forms and bid form evaluation spreadsheets.
• Gain an understanding of unit costs, bid form evaluations and award procedures during the bid phase.
• Under supervision on selected small projects, prepare and control budget and schedule, award and negotiate subcontracts, participate in jobsite coordination meetings, review job status with Project Manager, prepare profit projections and complete Punchlist and project close-out items.
• Support the estimating process and learn take-off software and unit cost analysis through preparing quantity take-offs.
