The Albuquerque Plant of General Mills is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead capital projects across the cereal and snack operations. You will scope development, estimate costs, design systems, size equipment, procure, install, and start-up with cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and have 3+ years of capital management experience in continuous manufacturing, plus strong leadership and problem-solving skills to deliver productivity and cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or other degree with applicable project management experience.
• 3+ years capital management experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of capital planning, capital policy, capital tools, and capital funding processes.
• Ability to develop screening-level estimates, preliminary scope, project budgets, and project funding documentation.
• Demonstrated skills in executing several large concurrent assignments with emphasis on project management, productivity, and packing development.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, adaptability, analytical and problem-solving skills, decision making, troubleshooting, communications, team management, and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engineer on site level capital projects - overall project management, budget, schedule management, construction management, start-up, conceptual phases, project close-out, scope development, cost estimation, system design, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation, check-out.
• Lead system design standards development for divisional unit operations. Includes improvements to existing standards using appropriate technical evaluation and involvement.
• Maintain engineering interface with business unit team - maintain close working relationship with Research & Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations leadership, and Financial operations.
• Provide innovative technical solutions required to meet business objectives with emphasis on productivity and cost savings.
• Build and lead cross-functional project teams, align stakeholders on scope, schedule, and deliverables, and communicate effectively with business partners and key customers.
• Manage vendors, contractors, and engineering firms in support of project execution.
• Provide support to annual capital planning process, which may include development and management of the capital program for an operating department.
• Coach, mentor, and develop less experienced engineers and internal resources.
