Job summary

Placed is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the project management team on commercial construction projects in Indianapolis. You will own project documentation, coordinate subs, and track cost and schedule while mentoring junior engineers.

This role is a stepping stone toward an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager position. Responsibilities include managing submittals, RFIs, change orders, procurement, BIM coordination, safety compliance, and closeout

• Strong cost tracking and scheduling skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage submittal, RFI, and change order processes with design teams and subcontractors.
• Assist PM with subcontractor buyout, scope reviews, bids, and contract/PO prep.
• Support project cost management, including cost reports, forecasting, and pay apps.
• Prepare and track change order pricing and approvals.
• Contribute to developing and updating the project schedule with the superintendent.
• Coordinate long-lead procurement and material/equipment deliveries.
• Lead or support MEP/trade coordination and BIM clash reviews.
• Conduct site walks to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
• Prepare meeting agendas/minutes for OAC and coordination meetings.
• Manage quality control and closeout docs (O&Ms, warranties, liens).
• Mentor junior engineers and interns; maintain logs and correspondence.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the project management team on commercial construction projects. This role takes ownership of project documentation, subcontractor coordination, and cost and schedule tracking, and serves as a mentor to junior engineers. It is a strong position for someone ready to step into an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full submittal, RFI, and change order processes, ensuring timely turnaround from the design team and subcontractors
• Assist the Project Manager with subcontractor buyout, including scope reviews, bid leveling, and contract/PO preparation
• Support project cost management, including monthly cost reports, forecasting, and pay application review
• Prepare and track change order pricing, proposals, and approvals
• Assist in developing and updating the project schedule in coordination with the Superintendent
• Coordinate long-lead procurement, material deliveries, and equipment with vendors and the field team
• Lead or support MEP and trade coordination efforts, including BIM/clash detection review where applicable
• Conduct regular site walks to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance
• Prepare meeting agendas and minutes for OAC and subcontractor coordination meetings
• Manage quality control and punch list processes, and drive closeout documentation (O&Ms, warranties, as-builts, lien waivers)
• Mentor and train junior project engineers and interns
• Maintain project documentation, drawing logs, specifications, and correspondence
