The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager and Site Operations Manager with project coordination, documentation, procurement, and administrative tasks required for successful project delivery. This role assists with project documentation, scheduling coordination, subcontractor communication, and financial tracking to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist with subcontractor bidding, procurement, and distribution of plans and specifications.
- Maintain and manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, and project logs.
- Track RFIs and coordinate responses with the design team.
- Manage the Submittal Log and coordinate design team reviews and approvals.
- Support development and updates of the project schedule.
- Assist the Site Operations Manager with the 3-week look ahead schedule and subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Prepare meeting agendas and meeting minutes including OAC meetings.
- Assist with issuing subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Support project buyout coordination with the Project Manager and Site Operations Manager.
- Review and assist with processing owner and subcontractor pay applications.
- Prepare and track change orders and maintain the change order log.
- Control and monitor project permits and approvals to ensure compliance and avoid schedule delays.
- Coordinate with local authorities and consultants regarding permit status and required inspections.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation systems.
- Assist with equipment rentals, material procurement, and related documentation.
- Prepare project correspondence and reports as required.
- Support quality control documentation and inspections coordination.
- Assist with assembling project closeout documentation including as-builts, warranties, and manuals.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) .
Preferred
- Experience with construction management software such as RedTeam, Procore, or similar platforms .
- Prior experience supporting commercial, multifamily, or institutional construction projects.
- Familiarity with construction scheduling, change management, and subcontractor coordination .
