Job summary

AEP is seeking a Major Project Director to lead a major generation project with budgets over $1B. You will develop, direct, guide and execute all project management functions, ensuring safety, schedule, cost, and stakeholder alignment across multiple components.

The role may require on-site leadership for the duration of the project, coordinating with utilities, regulators, vendors, and customers to deliver on time and within approved investment.

Responsibilities

• Own overall project execution including directing and overseeing project management functions.
• Oversee project safety program and monitor performance to achieve Zero Harm.
• Report to Generation Executive leadership on strategy and budget needs.
• Develop and negotiate project contracting strategy for EPC and engineering agreements.
• Drive integrated schedule across all workstreams and ensure alignment with resources.
• Manage program budget and contingency to meet targets.
• Identify and manage executive risk and develop mitigation solutions.
• Lead project change management and resolve disputes.
• Build and mentor a cohesive project leadership team.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with utilities, regulators, landowners, and contractors.
• Ensure readiness for regulatory filings and potential approvals.
