Job summary

SSOE seeks a Project Controls Specialist in Scottsdale to manage cost accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting for complex engineering projects. You will set up projects in Deltek Vantagepoint, establish baselines, and monitor budgets, schedules, and cash flows to keep programs on track.

You will collaborate with project managers and discipline leads, prepare variance analysis, and produce clear reports for leadership while guiding process improvements and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Experience in project control, project accounting, or cost accounting with focus on engineering/construction projects.
• Proficiency in Excel with detailed formulas, pivot tables, and charts; VBA is a plus.
• Experience with scheduling software like MS Project or Primavera.
• Hands-on with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint, Primavera, SAP PS; data extraction and reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and time-management; able to work independently and in teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Set up new projects in Deltek Vantagepoint with structure, billing terms, and budgets.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flows with PMs and discipline leads.
• Implement and oversee project WBS and cost coding for reporting.
• Identify cost overruns and risks; provide timely reporting to management.
• Maintain detailed project schedules.
• Review vendor proposals and issue purchase orders.
• Support internal audits and provide required documentation.
• Generate complex financial reports: budget vs actual, forecasts, EV, cash flow.
• Track change orders and their costs; communicate implications.
