Job summary

MOCA Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Architect to oversee design development and documentation on large, complex construction projects in the Southern California region.

You’ll co-lead with the Design Principal and Project Manager, coordinating staff, consultants, and stakeholders to achieve client goals. The role demands leadership across multiple projects, deep knowledge of building systems, and the ability to drive standards and processes firm-wide.

Qualifications

• NAAB accredited Bachelor’s degree in architecture and a minimum of ten (10) years as a practicing architect including the management of a team involved in planning, design, and construction.
• Must be a Registered Architect, licensed in State of practice.
• Other industry accreditations or certifications such as LEED AP or DBIA desired.
• Significant experience in all phases of work required.
• Ability: Organizational and project management skills, problem-solving, lead high performing teams, communicate with leaders, and use MS Office and design software.

Responsibilities

• Oversees project development and the project team in all phases of work to achieve design and technical success.
• Fosters a collaborative environment by taking an active role in leadership with the internal and external teams and maintains client relationships.
• Provides input on design direction and coordination of project definitions to meet client goals.
• Establishes and maintains quality standards for documentation and work products for the team.
• Demonstrates understanding of building materials, systems, specifications, codes, and construction techniques.
• Oversees coordination of consultants and resources to ensure deliverables meet performance goals.
• Develops project presentations and materials to convey ideas and solutions.
• Oversees design software usage and workflow efficiency across projects.
• Mentors staff in technical knowledge of buildings, systems, and constructability.
• Leads multiple projects and teams and helps develop new firm services and standards.
• Maintains open dialogue with client and stakeholders for continuous communication of status and expectations.
• Guides team to meet client vision and ensure positive project outcomes.
• Participates in project meetings as primary MOCA project team representative.
• Provides leadership and supervision of project staff and performance management.
• Reviews contracts to ensure fee structures and deliverables are met.
