Job summary

Jobot seeks a Project Accountant to own job cost accounting for assigned projects, partnering closely with project managers and the field. This role focuses on budgets, cost codes, progress billings, revenue recognition, and closeout activities.

It provides exposure to AIA billing formats and construction software like Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, and Procore, with opportunity for growth into Sr. Project Accountant or Project Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in construction.
• Experience with job cost accounting, progress billing, and AIA billing formats.
• Knowledge of work in progress schedules and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Experience managing subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, and retention.
• Strong Excel skills and construction accounting software experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain job budgets, cost codes, and contract records in the accounting system.
• Prepare monthly progress billings, AIA applications for payment, and supporting lien waivers.
• Track and post job costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor invoices.
• Prepare and review the work in progress schedule, including revenue recognition and over/under billings.
• Process subcontractor pay applications, verify insurance and compliance documents, and manage retention.
• Prepare job cost reports and analyze budget to actual variances with project managers.
• Process and track change orders, contract modifications, and their effect on job forecasts.
• Support project closeout including final billing, retention release, and cost reconciliation.
• Assist with month-end close entries, account reconciliations, and audit requests.
