Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Austin, TX seeks an experienced Project Finance Accountant to lead day-to-day accounting operations for construction projects and prepare financial reporting in compliance with Turner policies.

You will mentor accounting staff, manage accounts payable/receivable, monitor WIP and contract billing, support audits, and collaborate with project teams to maintain accurate forecasts and strong internal controls on multiple active projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with at least 3 years of experience.
• Advanced knowledge of GAAP, policies, and general ledger.
• Experience with AP/AR processes and reconciliations.
• Understanding of contract terms, lien laws, retainage, and prevailing wage applicable to project accounting.
• Ability to maintain internal controls and confidentiality.
• Self-starter who works with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Cash flow knowledge and WIP reporting understanding.
• Ability to educate others and ensure compliance.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for project Finance accounting questions.
• Mentor Accounting team on policies and workflows.
• Provide training and support to accounting staff.
• Audit client billing and project ledger for contract compliance.
• Manage project cash position and analyze variances.
• Lead month-end close and adjust entries.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and Turner policies.
• Support audit requests with documentation.
