Job summary

Targa Resources is seeking a Senior Project Accountant for our Houston, TX office. The role manages project workflows from inception to close, performs month-end close, and reports on the capital project program. Strong communication, detail-orientation, and independent problem-solving are essential in this position.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years in project/accounting, knowledge of GAAP/SOX, and proficiency in Excel. Experience with Oracle Financials Cloud and ERP systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• Foundational knowledge of GAAP and SOX controls preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in project accounting, property accounting, corporate accounting or public accounting.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to tailor style to audience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure capitalization policies and procedures are followed.
• Monitor project spend and support project managers.
• Set up capital projects and budgets with appropriate cost assignments.
• Review and guide project workflows and ensure accurate in-service dates in Oracle.
• Generate, record, and monitor invoicing for reimbursable projects.
• Manage month-end close procedures, including capitalized interest/labor allocations and reconciliations.
• Prepare CWIP fluctuation analysis for reporting.
• Communicate accounting issues and resolutions to affected groups.
