Job summary

Green Lion Search Group is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to support complex construction and manufacturing projects within a fast-paced, project-driven environment at a publicly traded company. You’ll manage project accounting, cost tracking, and reporting from start to finish.

This role emphasizes active project visibility, cross-functional partnership, and ensuring accurate costs, reporting, and financial controls across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance preferred.
• 3+ years in construction or project accounting, or Big 4 experience.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge, ASC 606 required.
• Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, and cost allocations.
• ERP/NetSuite experience and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage project accounting for construction and manufacturing projects.
• Track project costs, job costing, WIP reporting, and variances.
• Review invoices for accuracy and contract alignment.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Allocate labor, materials, and other project-related costs.
• Support fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization.
• Maintain construction material inventory records and cycle count processes.
• Prepare project-related financial reports and respond to audit requests.
• Help maintain internal controls and SOX compliance.

We're recruiting for a Senior Project Accountant to support complex construction and manufacturing projects in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys the detail of accounting but wants more than routine close work. You’ll have visibility into active projects, partner with cross-functional teams, and help ensure project costs, reporting, and financial controls are accurate from start to finish.

What you’ll be doing:

• Managing project accounting activities for construction and manufacturing projects
• Tracking project costs, job costing, WIP reporting, and budget-to-actual variances
• Reviewing contractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and contract alignment
• Supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries and reconciliations
• Allocating labor, materials, and other project-related costs
• Supporting fixed assets, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and amortization
• Maintaining construction material inventory records and cycle count processes
• Preparing project-related financial reports and supporting audit requests
• Helping maintain compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 3+ years of construction accounting, project accounting, or Big 4 public accounting experience
• Strong understanding of US GAAP
• ASC 606 experience required; ASC 810 is a plus
• Solid knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and expense allocation
• ERP or construction management software experience; Oracle NetSuite is a plus
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented, precise, and comfortable working across departments
