Pivotal Solutions in Columbia, NY is seeking a skilled staff accountant to support multiple real estate development projects. You will report to the Senior Accounting Manager and work with project managers and lenders to manage financials, prepare reports, and ensure timely close.

The ideal candidate has at least three years in staff accounting, a BS in accounting, strong QuickBooks and MS Office skills, and experience with project budgeting and GAAP principles.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least three (3) years of experience as a staff accountant.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
  • Prior experience in public accounting is a plus.
  • Prior experience in accounting for a Real Estate Developer is required.
  • Familiarity with AIA Documents G702/G703; general knowledge of construction accounting tools.
  • In-depth working knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures; strong ledger and month-end close experience.
  • Experience creating financial statements and overseeing budgets; strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and project cost reports.
  • Manage vendor payables, loan draws, and construction disbursements.
  • Coordinate with lenders and investors on reporting and audits.
  • Review and finalize contracts; assist with contract administration.
  • Oversee month-end close and general ledger activities.
  • Support investor relations with project financial updates and tax returns.

In this position, you will report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and company Executives, work closely with the entire development team, including project managers and the field construction team to manage, process, review, and track financials for multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Preparation and review of monthly bank requisitions and coordination with internal construction team and lendersProcess funding requests and draws requests for projects with construction loansEnsure complete and timely loan draws are prepared, and vendors are paid in a timely mannerProvide construction team oversight to approve buyout of trade contracts, maintain and balance budgets and ensure timely project completion and adherence to schedulesReview and finalize subcontractor and consultant contracts, assist with contract administrationPrepare monthly audits of project tracking costs against investment approved budgetsPerform investor relations functions including monthly project construction updates, financial updates, review of project financial statements and tax returns, fund managementPrepare and distribute monthly and quarterly financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, internally and to external partners, including investors and lendersResponsible for vendor payables, mortgage payments, property & reimbursable expenses, various fees, construction loan reconciliations, project disbursements, etc.Carry out any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to this role
