Job summary

RemX | The Workforce Experts is seeking a finance professional in Houston, TX to lead project accounting and external reporting for a well-established real estate developer. Responsibilities include GAAP financial statements, job costing, loan draws, and ensuring accurate reporting across developments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4+ years accounting experience in residential construction preferred.
• Public accounting and audit experience a MUST.
• Experience with job costing, WIP, or % of completion accounting.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and GL accounting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly financial statements and schedules per GAAP.
• Support project-level accounting activities and budgeting.
• Maintain land, lot, and inventory schedules.
• Assist with monthly loan draws and supporting docs.
• Track debt and equity activity and cash flow.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide documentation.
• Review invoices and ensure accurate coding.
• Collaborate with PMs and teams for accurate reporting on developments.
• Assist with cash receipts and general ledger maintenance.

Compensation: $90K-$110K + profit based annual bonus

Responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP Assist with internal and external financial reporting, including investor and partnership reporting packages
• Support project-level accounting activities, including job costing and tracking of development budgets
• Maintain and reconcile land, lot, and inventory schedules
• Assist with preparation and submission of monthly loan draws, including supporting documentation
• Track and maintain debt and equity activity, including financing schedules and cash flow tracking
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide documentation for interim and year-end audits
• Review and process invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely payment
• Collaborate with PMs and internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting on active developments
• Assist with cash receipts, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Min 4+ years' accounting experience in the residential construction industry highly preferred
• Some Public accounting and audit experience a MUST
• Experience or exposure to real estate, construction, or project accounting strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Experience with job costing, WIP, or percentage-of-completion accounting preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with project teams
• Advanced Excel and accounting software (ERP) proficiency required with Sage 300/Timberline strongly preferred
