Job summary

Community College of Rhode Island is seeking a Lead Programmer Analyst to analyze, design, develop, test, implement, and maintain software applications to meet our needs. You will collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and participate in all phases of the development lifecycle.

The role leads major integration projects using Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, SQL, and API gateways, while mentoring staff and ensuring high-quality, scalable

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related field.
• 6 years of relevant experience.
• Expert software developer or programmer analyst with Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, Perl, Python, SQL, HTML.
• Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP or similar ERP and iPaaS.
• Hands-on experience building and supporting integrations on Ellucian Ethos or similar middleware.
• Knowledge of relational databases, cloud technologies, APIs, and programming.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies.
• Excellent communication; able to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of major software applications.
• Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements.
• Lead code reviews, unit/integration/system testing and promote automation.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and end-user training as needed.
• Develop and maintain data workflows and integrations within a DevOps framework.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and software defects; ensure SLAs are met.
• Guide and mentor Programmer Analyst staff as the technical lead on projects.
• Represent IT in team activities and interactions with the college.
