Responsibilities
- Conduct research, analysis and evaluation to determine project feasibility.
- Work with the Programming Supervisor to develop project cost and benefit estimates.
- Evaluate customer requirements, determine solutions, and recommend to customers.
- Design and develop new computer applications, maintain and modify existing ones.
- Develop highly complex and critical software solutions using established engineering processes.
- Utilize various platforms and utilities to deliver applications.
- Test applications and recommend or implement modifications.
- Develop enterprise‑level custom integration solutions between multiple applications.
- Develop custom interface solutions for data extraction and electronic data interchange.
- Handle vendor application development environments, apply patches/upgrades, and coordinate testing.
- Design component and data architecture; set performance monitoring standards.
- Develop custom reports or use standardized reporting tools as needed.
- Analyze and resolve complex application support problems.
- Document program, operations, run procedures and online help.
- Plan, prepare, and implement data conversions; support data cleansing and extraction.
- Provide primary support for multiple applications; back‑up support when needed.
- Set priorities for self and team members during development and support work.
- Prepare reports and project charts for activities, meetings, and projects.
- Coordinate activities and review/testing of team members’ work; recommend modifications.
- Ensure department standards and data integrity are maintained.
- Train customers and IT personnel on new and revised applications.
- Demonstrate supported systems and other software to customers and IT staff.
- Evaluate effectiveness of proposed vendor software products.
- Develop programming and development standards based on long‑term strategy.
- Research and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies.
- Serve as on‑call 24/7 for supported applications.
- Participate in emergency management activities during local disasters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field (or High School/GED plus four years of relevant professional experience plus five years required experience).
- Five years of relevant computer programming and system design experience, including one year of management, supervisory or team‑lead experience.
- Thorough knowledge of programming and development standards, architectures.
- Profound knowledge of state‑of‑the‑art programming languages and object‑oriented approaches.
- Proficient in integration methodologies.
- Ability to translate complex concepts for peers and customers.
- Ability to design, debug and maintain complex code, modules or applications.
- Ability to complete work within specified project time schedules.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication and organization skills.
Salary
Starting hourly rate $40.47‑$50.59 based on qualifications.
