Job summary

Priority One Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced contract operations manager to supervise NIH DVR animal care programs at the Bethesda complex.

You will lead multi-department teams, ensure compliance with AAALACi accreditation, and coordinate with investigators and veterinarians to deliver quality animal care and research support. The role requires LATG and CMAR considerations, strong communication, and proven ability to manage complex facilities and reporting.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological or animal sciences or related disciplines with emphasis on animal care and management in a research environment is preferred.
• Minimum six (6) years’ experience managing a multi‑department research laboratory animal facility AAALACi accredited.
• Demonstrated experience with multiple species including rodents, rabbits, swine and non‑human primates.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple laboratory animal departments including cage wash, husbandry, veterinary technical, training, QA and administration.
• AALAS LATG certification required; CMAR certification pursued.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations and management of a fast-paced animal care and research program; coordinate with Deputy Program Managers and department Project Managers.
• Manage large non-human primate, swine, rabbit, guinea pig, woodchuck and rodent colonies.
• Interface between contract personnel and DVR PIs, Study Directors, and other investigator team members; coordinate resource requirements.
• Be the main point of contact for all department Project Managers and provide leadership directives.
• Manage assignment and movement of personnel to balance workload and expertise.
• Assist with development and implementation of SOPs.
• Provide QA and Training department oversight to ensure compliance with SOPs and policies.
• Ensure adherence to laws and directives including AAALACi, AWA, OLAW, IACUC, USDA.
