Job summary

New York Edge seeks a Director of After-School Programs to oversee 6-8 programs across five boroughs, ensuring operational quality and program success. You will supervise Program Directors, manage contracts, and lead curriculum development and enrichment activities.

You will recruit and train staff, handle schedules and budgets, support events, and serve as a liaison with principals, funders, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required (Education, Psychology, or Social Work preferred).
• Minimum of 18 college credits in Education from an accredited institution.
• Prior supervisory experience in urban education; teaching or afterschool management preferred.
• Completion of the 15-hour OCFS Health and Safety course within three months of hire (required for DOHMH compliance).
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
• Knowledge of curriculum design, program evaluation, and fiscal planning.
• Familiarity with DOE/public school systems and city, state, and federal funding for afterschool programs.
• Understanding of sports, arts, and academic enrichment programming.

Responsibilities

• Oversee 6-8 after-school programs across K-12 schools in the five boroughs.
• Ensure high-quality operations and program success.
• Supervise Program Directors and ensure contract compliance.
• Develop and implement curriculum and enrichment activities.
• Recruit and train staff, manage schedules and budgets.
• Support special events.
• Serve as the primary liaison between New York Edge, school principals, funders, and internal teams.
• Conduct regular site visits to evaluate program quality and provide feedback.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure strong partnerships and effective communication.
• Address parent concerns and manage incidents as needed.
• Promote professional growth of Program Directors and staff.
