Job summary

Markel is seeking a Senior Claims Examiner to resolve moderate to high complexity professional liability claims nationwide. You will investigate, negotiate settlements, assess coverage, manage defense counsel, and report developments to stakeholders.

The role requires 3+ years of claims or litigation experience, a college degree (JD preferred), excellent communication skills, and willingness to travel up to 10%. US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional liability claims or litigation experience.
• College degree and/or professional designation required, JD preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Sound comprehension of insurance coverage posed by professional liability policies.
• Ability to analyze and convey summations of complex issues both verbally and in writing.
• Travel approximately 10%.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, negotiate and settle complex professional liability claims.
• Analyze coverage under professional liability policies and draft correspondence.
• Manage nationwide litigation; supervise defense counsel and costs.
• Communicate developments to underwriting and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Claims Manager and train peers.
• Participate in agent functions and meetings.
• Maintain and adhere to Markel guidelines and reporting requirements.
