Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent job-related experience.
• Minimum of 5 years underwriting experience.
• Demonstrated technical underwriting expertise and product knowledge (Property, Liability, Auto, Umbrella).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and interpersonal, communication & negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency in sales and marketing and ability to interact with internal/external partners.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal accounts following BLG guidelines and authority.
• Plan and budget the book of business and monitor performance against plan.
• Develop and maintain agency relationships and evaluate agency performance.
• Provide guidance to other underwriters and cross-functional teams.
• Monitor metrics like hit ratios, renewal retention, and risk spread.
• Stay current on state/territory issues, regulations, and trends.
• Negotiate with agents to reach profitable outcomes and deliver timely service.
