Responsibilities
  • Report to the Director of Underwriting as a senior member of the underwriting team.
  • Profitably grow a book of business by partnering with brokers and cross‑functional colleagues.
  • Plan, budget, and track performance of the book of business, reporting results and market conditions.
  • Execute new and renewal underwriting decisions in line with BLG’s strategy, guidelines, and authority limits.

Inforce Portfolio Management & Underwriting Execution
  • Select risks aligned with BLG’s strategy and guidelines.
  • Follow up on accounts and close new business.
  • Track and report performance against plans.
  • Stay current on state/territory regulations and market trends.
Broker Relationships & Business Development
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with agent partners through visits and regular communication.
  • Track agency performance and recommend management actions.
  • Communicate corporate goals, policies, and best practices to agents.
  • Prepare quotes, address agency inquiries, and manage escalations.
  • Negotiate outcomes that are both positive and profitable.
  • Deliver accurate, timely, and complete service to brokers and policyholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years underwriting experience.
  • Technical expertise in Property, Liability, Auto, and Umbrella products.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in sales and marketing of insurance products.
  • Knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently, and exercise sound judgment.
Benefits

Competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full‑time employees. Base salary range: $82,000 – $152,000. Salary determined by role scope, complexity, candidate qualifications, and other factors. Eligible for annual discretionary bonus program. Benefits include Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Wellness, Paid Time Off, 401(k), and Profit‑Sharing plans.
