As a senior underwriter, you will report to the Director of Underwriting, grow the book of business through brokers, and oversee performance, risk, and market conditions while guiding junior underwriters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 5 years underwriting experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in sales and marketing of insurance products.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Director of Underwriting as a senior member of the underwriting team.
• Profitably grow a book of business by partnering with brokers and cross-functional colleagues.
• Plan, budget, and track performance of the book of business, reporting results and market conditions.
• Execute new and renewal underwriting decisions in line with BLG’s strategy, guidelines, and authority limits.
• Provide guidance to other underwriters and functional teams.
• Monitor production metrics such as hit ratios, renewal retention, risk spread, and quality measures.
