Job summary

Tramec is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our Sloan facilities in Holland, MI or Galion, OH. You will lead NPD from concept through production, provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams, and drive cost reduction through value engineering.

You will design with SolidWorks, maintain CAD data, BOMs, and ECNs, and lead APQP/PPAP activities while ensuring QMS compliance. Travel 10–20% as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Design Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of product engineering experience.
• Experience leading engineering projects from concept through production.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PLM, and engineering change management.
• Heavy-duty truck, automotive, or industrial equipment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead new product development from concept through production launch.
• Provide technical leadership for cross-functional engineering teams.
• Develop innovative product designs using SolidWorks.
• Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, BOMs, routings, Product Masters, and ECNs/ECOs.
• Lead APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, and design reviews.
• Evaluate manufacturability, cost, quality, reliability, and serviceability.
• Manage projects involving injection molding, stamping, roll forming, welding, machining, and assembly.
• Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
• Support tooling development, supplier qualification, prototype builds, and production launches.
• Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, and DMAIC.
• Analyze warranty and field performance data.
• Mentor engineers and technicians.
• Lead customer and supplier technical reviews.
• Support Lean and Kaizen initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with QMS and industry standards.
