Job summary

City of New York is hiring Senior Product Designers to design and ship resident-facing products end-to-end. You will lead research, interaction, visual, and content design in collaboration with product managers, engineers, policy teams, and other city staff to translate statements into usable digital services.

You will drive the full design process, create prototypes, test with New Yorkers, and contribute to a shared design system to speed future work, while ensuring accessibility and inclusive,

Qualifications

• 1) A design degree and 4+ years in product design or equivalent experience.
• 2) End-to-end product design experience from research to launch.
• 3) Ability to translate complex rules into usable interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design on resident-facing products from concept to launch.
• Move quickly through rapid prototyping, usability testing, MVP iteration, pilot, and public launch.
• Plan and conduct user research with New Yorkers and synthesize findings into actionable insights.
• Design clear user flows, IA, wireframes, and high‑fidelity interfaces.
• Turn complex rules and language into clear product copy.
• Partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, and policy teams.
• Work with agency staff, policy advisors, and legal to translate rules into experiences.
• Build accessibility into the design process and align with standards.
