Job summary

Progress Software in Burlington, MA (hybrid) is seeking an experienced Product Counsel to guide product design, development and release while ensuring regulatory compliance across jurisdictions. You will collaborate with product management, engineering, design, marketing, and compliance to align business goals with regulations.

You will negotiate technology licenses, protect IP, and advise on privacy and data security.

Qualifications

• Law degree is required.
• Minimum of 5 years in-house experience as a product counsel in tech, SaaS or cloud.
• Significant experience with IP, licensing, privacy and trade compliance in tech.
• Ability to communicate with product managers and engineers and apply legal principles to technology architectures.
• Startup mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• HIPAA compliance experience is highly desired.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product teams and provide counsel on complex regulatory and compliance issues in cloud services.
• Advise on all stages of a product life cycle from design to release and distribution, including regulatory concerns.
• Support sales by negotiating agreements with customers, partners and vendors.
• Liaise with other legal team members on IP, privacy, security and trade compliance.
• Ensure compliance with US and international laws and company policies.
