Job summary

Progress is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance on complex customer transactions across North America. This hybrid role balances work from home and our American Fork, UT office, with emphasis on software licensing, SaaS, and on-premises solutions.

Ideal candidates are US-bar admitted attorneys with 5+ years in-house, strong negotiation skills, and experience in data privacy, revenue recognition, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced technology

Qualifications

• 5+ years in-house legal experience in software licensing
• Experience with enterprise SaaS, on‑premises, and hybrid models
• Strong data privacy and security knowledge
• Experience with revenue recognition rules and policy alignment
• Excellent oral and written communication; ability to convey complex legal concepts to business teams
• Proven ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal support on complex North America sales transactions across multiple product lines
• Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS, licensing, reseller, partner, and services agreements
• Lead benchmarking and updates to contract templates to improve negotiation efficiency
• Collaborate with Revenue Ops, IT, and Product teams to accelerate deal velocity and ensure compliance
• Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve legal workflows and governance
