Job summary

Progress seeks a Product Counsel to join our in-house team. Based in Raleigh, NC, or Burlington, MA, this hybrid role partners with product management, engineering, and compliance to guide development, marketing, data protection, and licensing strategies for cloud services.

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of in-house experience in tech product counsel, strong drafting and negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of IP, privacy, and trade compliance across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant in-house experience as a product counsel in tech (software/SaaS/cloud).
• Experience with IP, licensing, privacy and trade compliance in tech.
• Ability to communicate with product managers and engineers and apply legal principles to technology architectures.

Responsibilities

• Advise on all stages of a product's life cycle including design, development, marketing, launch and distribution.
• Draft, structure and negotiate technology development, licensing, and other commercial agreements.
• Support sales cycles with customer, partner and vendor agreements and negotiation.
• Review advertising and marketing materials for compliance and accuracy.
• Provide ongoing legal counseling on IP, technology, and licensing.
• Train internal teams and the legal team on regulatory issues.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, design, and product marketing teams.
