Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Product Counsel with a passion for new technologies to join the Product Counsel team. You will draft and negotiate technology transactions and help solve thorny legal issues across product, engineering, and business teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

You will support privacy-by-design reviews, data-flow documentation for responsible AI, and collaboration with the commercial legal team to address complex customer inquiries.

Qualifications

• JD degree with strong academic credentials and admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 7+ years of law firm and/or in‑house experience, preferably with technology companies.
• Technical background or passion for technologies is highly desirable.
• Ability to provide legal advice aligned with strategic business goals.
• Experience with copyright law and Internet law is desired (AI Act, Data Act, net neutrality, DMCA, CFAA).
• Strong communication skills and teamwork; capable of cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex legal analysis into clear, actionable guidance for fast‑moving product and engineering teams.
• Assess legal risks and advise product, engineering and business teams on services that move information across the Internet.
• Advise senior leaders on legal implications of product strategy.
• Review and architect legal frameworks for technology transactions and partner agreements.
• Review marketing event agreements and support marketing promotions and sweepstakes.
• Draft terms of service, disclosures, policies, and privacy-related processes.
