Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a seasoned Product Counsel to join the team in the United States. You will draft and negotiate technology transactions, advise on AI-related initiatives, and partner with product, engineering, and business teams across the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

JD degree with strong academic credentials and admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
7+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience, preferably with technology companies.
Technical background / expertise highly desired; passion for technologies.
Ability to provide legal advice aligned with strategic business goals.
Experience with copyright and Internet law (e.g., AI Act, Data Act, net neutrality, DMCA, CFAA).
Strong communication skills and cooperative team player; adaptable in fast-paced environments.
Ability to work cross-functionally with lawyers and non-lawyers, including senior executives.

Responsibilities

Translate complex legal analysis into clear, actionable guidance for product and engineering teams.
Proactively assess legal risks and advise product, engineering and business teams building services that reshape information movement and related laws.
Serve as a legal advisor to senior business leaders on the legal implications of product strategy.
Review and architect legal frameworks for technology transaction related agreements, such as partner and licensing agreements.
Review marketing event agreements and support Cloudflare's teams with promotions and sweepstakes.
Draft terms of service, disclosures, policies, and related processes.
Apply privacy-by-design principles and partner with the privacy team on data-flow reviews, PIAs, and other privacy deliverables.
Solicit invention disclosures, support patent strategy, and protect Cloudflare's trade secrets.
Partner with product and marketing teams on product marketing collateral and claim substantiation.
Build and refine processes that enable the Legal team to scale effectively as Cloudflare grows.
Engage externally on behalf of Cloudflare in areas where you are a subject matter expert.
