Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. in Santa Clara, CA seeks a Process Support Engineer (PSE) to guide products from concept through qualification and provide high-visibility customer support via on-site installations and diagnostics.

You will collaborate with customers and R&D to develop cutting-edge processes for semiconductor manufacturing, perform DOEs, analyze data, and report high-level conclusions while resolving root-cause issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry/ physics, materials engineering, electrical engineering, optoelectronics or related field.
• 7–10 years of dry etch experience in the semiconductor fab or equipment industry.
• Strong leadership skills to guide others in problem-solving.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate difficult concepts to project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-visibility customer support through on-site installations, system diagnoses, and the service and repair of complex systems and equipment.
• Work closely with the customer to develop leading-edge processes to manufacture the most advanced semiconductor chips, with equipment optimized to their needs.
• Create hypothesis experiments and design of experiments (DOE); analyze data with statistics; and compile reports with high-level conclusions.
• Troubleshoot complex problems; perform multiple root cause analyses; resolve diverse process engineering issues.
• Serve as a resource for junior colleagues and act as liaison between customer and business unit; may lead teams or projects.
