Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Process Support Engineer (PSE) to lead on-site deployments and provide high-visibility customer support through installation, diagnostics, and service of complex semiconductor equipment.

You will collaborate with R&D and field teams to analyze data, perform DOEs, and deliver actionable reports while guiding projects from concept to qualification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Semiconductor Capital Equipment or similar high-tech industry.
• Preferred 3+ years in Applications or Process Engineering.
• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field.
• Experience using semiconductor real-time defect analysis tools and metrology tools.

Responsibilities

• Serves as liaison between the customer and the Business Unit for assigned projects, ensuring clear understanding of customer issues and delivery of applicable solutions.
• When necessary, works closely with customer to optimize tool performance to meet customer process and integration requirements.
• Checks and approves operational quality of system equipment. Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.
• Provides highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems.
• Knowledge of 3 or more processes on 1 or more technologies
• Analyze process and tool data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and support decision‑making
• Deliver clear written and verbal communication to customers and internal stakeholders
• Prepare and deliver presentations on findings, progress, recommendations, and technical updates
