Job summary

Lilly in Houston, TX is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to provide technical expertise across all phases of site development and GMP manufacturing operations. You will partner with multiple teams to establish and sustain process safety management, participate in risk assessments, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

During startup, you will drive safety competencies, implement MOC and PHA processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing with knowledge of process safety regulations (OSHA 1910.119, NFPA, EPA RMP).
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly does not sponsor visas.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of core process safety management elements for site readiness.
• Provide input during facility design, construction, commissioning, startup to ensure hazards are identified and controls incorporated.
• Support PHA/HAZOP/LOPA studies and risk assessments, documenting findings and mitigation.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and HSE to integrate process safety requirements.
• Sustain and improve PSM elements, including MOC, PHA revalidation, and incident investigation support.
• Monitor process safety performance through audits, field engagement, and KPIs.
