Job summary

Grant Thornton (US) in Hartford, CT seeks a Process Risk Senior Associate (Insurance) to help clients understand risks and strengthen controls across insurance and financial services. You will engage in planning, execution, and reporting of risk engagements from start to finish.

Your work includes internal audits, SOX control testing, ERM assessments, and developing risk-based recommendations while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with project leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, IT, MIS, BI, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of related work experience with a professional services firm or risk/internal audit.
• Experience with insurance organizations preferred, especially property and casualty.
• CIA, CPA, Six Sigma, or related license/certification preferred; SOX 404 experience preferred.
• Experience assessing the design and operating effectiveness of enterprise or operational risk management programs and/or controls.
• Familiarity with COSO Internal Control Framework and IIAs IPPF.

Responsibilities

• Review processes to assess risk, internal controls, and overall effectiveness.
• Understand client business, objectives, operations, IT systems, and controls.
• Participate in engagements from planning to reporting (SOX, ERM, internal audits).
• Assist in project planning, timelines, budgets, and status reporting.
• Supervise and mentor Associates and Interns on engagements.
• Develop internal audit work plans and control test procedures.
• Apply risk knowledge to evaluate findings and develop recommendations.
• Collaborate with client teams to deliver services per expectations.
• Other duties as assigned.
