Job summary

Grant Thornton (US) is seeking a Process Risk Senior Associate (Insurance) to help clients understand and address business risks within risk, compliance and controls engagements. You’ll work on internal audits, control assessments, and ERM programs for insurance and financial services clients.

You will plan, execute, and report on engagements, supervise teams, and contribute to test procedures and control design. A CPA/CIA or equivalent is preferred, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, MIS, Business Intelligence, or related field required.
• Minimum 2 years of related work experience with a professional services firm or as part of a Risk Management or Internal Audit function.
• Experience with insurance organizations, particularly property and casualty carriers or related market participants, is preferred.
• CIA, CPA, Six Sigma, or related license/certification preferred; SOX 404 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review operational, financial, and administrative processes to assess risk, internal control, and the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the process.
• Obtain an understanding of clients’ business, objectives, strategy, operations, processes, IT systems, service providers and controls including those in insurance specific and other financial services organizations.
• Actively participate in client engagements from start to completion, planning, executing, and reporting on engagements such as co-sourced/outsourced internal audit, internal control assessments, ERM program assessments, tests of control design and operating effectiveness for SOX and related requirements.
• Support engagement Manager/Senior Manager in project management activities, including schedules, budgets, and status reporting.
• Supervise, train, mentor Associates and Interns on engagements, assess performance and provide feedback.
• Develop and execute internal audit workplans and control test procedures based on engagement scope and client risk factors.
