Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join the Manufacturing & Technology Global Business Unit (M&T GBU) Engineering Team in the Houston area. This role focuses on delivering technical excellence across initiatives, estimates, studies, and project execution phases within the pharma/API sector.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in chemical or pharmaceutical industries.
• 10–13 years of relevant experience or 14–17 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree; utility system design of flammable/combustible materials.
• Strong knowledge in hydraulic design for Utility Systems.
• Experience in design of systems containing flammable and combustible materials.
• Familiar with distillation systems for solvent recovery (Pressure Swing Distillation and others).

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard Process/Chemical engineering methods with independent judgment.
• Develop hydraulic calculations for assigned scope.
• Create basis, specifications, and schematics for utility systems.
• Perform relief system design and PSV sizing.
• Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and control philosophies.
• Ensure designs meet industry codes and standards.
• Interface with clients, vendors, and construction teams for alignment.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement.
