Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior process engineer to lead multi-project efforts in the oil and gas sector. You will develop heat and material balances, create PFDs and P&IDs, size equipment, and perform hydraulic calculations. Role includes safety reviews, design basis development, and mentoring junior staff.

This hybrid position requires a BS/MS in engineering (ABET), 15+ years in oil and gas, and travel up to 20%. PE license preferred; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• This position requires a BS and/or MS in engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background.
• 15+ years of oil and gas industry experience in midstream and/or upstream.
• Professional Engineering License is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of gas plants and gas processing preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; professional demeanor.
• Ability to travel up to 20% for client meetings and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Lead process engineering efforts as lead engineer or senior technical advisor on multiple projects.
• Develop heat and material balance and PFDs/P&IDs for new projects.
• Size equipment and perform hydraulic calculations; support PSV sizing.
• Support safety reviews (HAZOP/PHAs) and PSM activities.
• Develop design basis and process control narratives; coordinate with other disciplines.
• Mentor less experienced designers and engineers; assist in proposals and staffing.
• Support construction, commissioning, and start-up with procedure input.
