Job summary

Hyundai MOBIS North America Electrified Powertrain, LLC is seeking a Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes aimed at improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. You will work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement across the facility.

The role requires collaboration across departments to support new product launches, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and lead improvement

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required
• 5+ years of process engineering in manufacturing preferred
• Experience in high-volume production environments preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to meet production, quality, and cost objectives
• Analyze production data to identify efficiency and waste reduction opportunities
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues and downtime
• Create and maintain process documentation (SOPs, work instructions, control plans)
• Support new equipment installation, process validation, and line launches
• Collaborate with Quality and Production to ensure process capability and customer requirements
• Participate in APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans and other quality system activities
• Conduct time studies and line balancing to optimize labor and equipment use
• Evaluate processes and identify automation opportunities to boost productivity
• Monitor key process indicators and take corrective actions as needed
• Coordinate engineering changes and ensure smooth production implementation
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen methodologies
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
• Provide training and support to production personnel

Role Overview

This role works closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to identify process improvements, support new product launches, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

This role works closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to identify process improvements, support new product launches, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to achieve production, quality, and cost objectives.
• Analyze production data and process performance to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and waste reduction.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues, quality concerns, and equipment downtime.
• Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), process flow charts, and control plans.
• Support new equipment installation, process validation, and production line launches.
• Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to ensure process capability and compliance with customer requirements.
• Participate in APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and other quality system activities as required.
• Conduct time studies and line balancing activities to optimize labor and equipment utilization.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes and recommend automation opportunities to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Monitor key process indicators and implement corrective actions when performance targets are not achieved.
• Coordinate engineering changes and ensure successful implementation into production.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other problem-solving methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and environmental regulations.
• Provide technical training and support to production personnel and other team members.

AUTHORITY & SCOPE

This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and raise matters as required

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• 5+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience supporting high-volume production operations

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial engineering principles.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis using tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram, and PDCA.
• Experience with production equipment, automation systems, and/or process controls.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint. .
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering field
• Experience in automotive, battery, EV, or Tier 1 supplier manufacturing environments.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
• Experience with automated assembly, robotics, and manufacturing process optimization.
• Knowledge of IATF 16949 quality management systems
