Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to meet production, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Analyze data and process performance to identify efficiency gains and waste reduction.
  • Lead root cause analyses and corrective actions for process issues and downtime.
  • Create and maintain process documentation (SOPs, work instructions, flow charts, control plans).
  • Support new equipment installs, process validation, and line launches.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Production to ensure process capability and customer requirement compliance.
  • Participate in APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and other quality systems.
  • Conduct time studies and line balancing to optimize labor and equipment use.
  • Evaluate processes and identify automation opportunities to boost productivity and reduce costs.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions when targets are not met.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and ensure successful production implementation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and environmental regulations.
  • Provide technical training and support to production staff.

Role Overview

The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. This role works closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to identify process improvements, support new product launches, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to achieve production, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Analyze production data and process performance to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and waste reduction.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues, quality concerns, and equipment downtime.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), process flow charts, and control plans.
  • Support new equipment installation, process validation, and production line launches.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to ensure process capability and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Participate in APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and other quality system activities as required.
  • Conduct time studies and line balancing activities to optimize labor and equipment utilization.

AUTHORITY & SCOPE

This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalates matters as required.

Required Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting high-volume production operations
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial engineering principles.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis using tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram, and PDCA.
  • Experience with production equipment, automation systems, and/or process controls.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint. .
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering field
  • Experience in automotive, battery, EV, or Tier 1 supplier manufacturing environments.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
  • Experience with automated assembly, robotics, and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 quality management systems
