Job summary

Rapid Resource Recruiters is looking for a qualified individual to evaluate and improve manufacturing processes in Columbus, Mississippi. The successful candidate will have experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and will be responsible for enhancing production methods while ensuring quality standards are met.

The role demands strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and expertise in manufacturing operations. A BS/BA degree or equivalent experience is required, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Excel and CAD systems.

Job description

Responsible for evaluating new/existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Evaluate and improve on processes in manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.
  • Develop innovative solutions.
  • Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
  • Prepare samples for study.
  • Analyze testing results and compare against customer specifications.
  • Collect, record, and transcribe data.
  • Show results in reports.
  • Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of production process.
  • Advise on corrective actions.
  • Work with equipment designers and operations to develop a cost-effective and working production process.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Ensure financial budgets are followed.
  • Research and purchase new manufacturing technology.
  • Maintain database of operational work standards.
  • Work with advanced product development/manufacturing to establish baseline processing standards for new products and production methods.
Qualifications
  • Must have excellent communication and organization skills, along with strong math background.
  • Work well independently and with teams.
  • Must be a team player within a progressive work environment.
  • Must be able to work with a high degree of accuracy, under pressure and with frequent interruptions.
  • Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing Experience (Black Belt or Green Belt).
  • Working knowledge of a variety of software including Microsoft Excel, Word.
  • Working knowledge of CAD systems (Auto Cad, Spinfire)
  • Strong problem solving skills.
SUPERVISION

Must be able to work with little to no supervision. Must be able to supervise, lead, coach, develop, evaluate, and discipline direct reports.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIRED
  • Minimum technical education (BS/BA degree) and/or equivalent working experience (5+ years) in:
  • Manufacturing Operations
  • LEAN Manufacturing
  • Automotive quality systems
  • Professional certification in ASQ-CQE, CQA, or CQM
  • APQP, Six Sigma, 8-D Training, 5S Visual Factories
WORKING CONDITIONS
  1. Degree of Physical Demands (Strength) usually associated with this classification:
    1. Medium to heavy work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force infrequently, involves transporting, positioning, stooping, and bending on an infrequent basis.
  2. Environmental Conditions (Physical Surroundings) usually associated with this classification:
    1. Incumbent to exposure to internal office conditions and internal plant conditions such infrequent exposure to loud noise (s), dust and miscellaneous particles, and cold/heat.
  3. Environmental Conditions (Hazards) usually associated with this classification:
    1. Infrequent exposure to Hi-Lo traffic.
