Job summary

Hargrove and Associates, Inc is seeking a Process Engineer with 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in chemical, petroleum, or biochemical process design. You will perform complete designs under supervision, develop layouts and cost studies, and ensure compliance with codes and client requirements.

The role emphasizes safety culture, accurate documentation, and collaboration with design leaders across disciplines. CAD and process simulation expertise are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Promotes safety in process design and applies safety concepts.
• Knowledge of chemical/biochemical process engineering basics.
• Familiar with equipment specs, installation details and piping.
• Ability to create accurate process engineering documents from vendor data.
• Understanding of the skills and experience required for process design.
• Proficient CAD skills (AutoCAD or MicroStation).
• Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with hydraulic simulators (AFT Fathom/Arrow, PIPEPHASE, PIPE-FLO, SiNet).
• Experience with process simulators (Aspen Plus, Aspen Plus Dynamics, PRO/II, DYNSIM, HYSYS, CHEMCAD).
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Virtual team collaboration across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Promoting a safety culture in process design.
• Establishing design criteria meeting standards and codes.
• Ensuring permitting requirements are identified and communicated.
• Delegating work to engineers and designers based on skills.
• Producing preliminary designs and material take-offs for estimates.
• Developing conceptual layouts and cost studies for efficient solutions.
• Producing design calculations and drawings for projects.
• Reviewing vendor drawings for conformance to specs.
• Mentoring less experienced engineers and supporting interoffice teams.
• Travel for client presentations and project tasks as needed.
• Contributing to sales activities and proposal development.
