Job summary

The State of North Carolina, Department of Adult Correction, is seeking a Chief Probation/Parole Officer (NS) to supervise and guide Probation/Parole Officers, Judicial Services Coordinators, and clerical staff within the Division of Community Supervision. You will coordinate workflows, assign cases, and ensure effective supervision and timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 4 years of experience as NC Probation/Parole Officer.
• Eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
• Strong leadership and staff supervision experience.
• Ability to work flexible hours including 24/7 emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Probation/Parole Officers, Judicial Services Coordinators, and clerical staff.
• Coordinates workflow and manages case assignments to meet Community Supervision goals.
• Manages scheduling, time tracking, and staff training.
• Handles discipline, conflicts, and performance issues as needed.
• Ensures adherence to Evidenced Based Practices and reentry strategies.
• Responds to crises and may have on-call duties or second-shift hours.
