Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Chief Probation and Parole Officer (NS) to lead a unit of Probation/Parole Officers and clerical staff in implementing community supervision goals.

The CPPO coordinates workflows, assigns cases, schedules, tracks time, and trains staff while handling discipline and performance. The role may involve second shifts and on-call EHA response as needed.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of Community Supervision goals, policies and practices.
• Experience with case planning and structured intervention.
• Ability to assess offender needs and determine appropriate supervision levels.
• Strong collaboration with courts, law enforcement, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Probation/Parole Officers and staff to implement Community Supervision goals.
• Coordinate daily operations, case assignments, scheduling, time tracking and staff training.
• Handle discipline, conflicts, and employee performance; ensure timely task completion.
• Engage in crisis interventions and provide immediate responses to incidents.
• Possibly manage an active caseload and participate in on-call EHA response when required.
