Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown is seeking a Tax Senior to lead all aspects of tax engagements from our Columbia, MD or Tysons Corner, VA offices. You will supervise staff, develop client relationships, and deliver comprehensive tax services across individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporate entities.

The role emphasizes strong analytical skills, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple engagements with diverse teams while delivering high-quality client service.

Qualifications

• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a track record of developing strong client relationships.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a fast-paced team environment.
• Experience in tax engagements across individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations.
• Working towards CPA license or CPA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complex individual, trust, partnership and corporate tax returns.
• Review mid-level complexity tax returns prepared by staff for accuracy.
• Research and draft memos on complex tax matters.
• Identify tax planning opportunities.
• Handle and resolve tax controversies.
• Manage multiple engagements with different teams to meet deadlines.
• Provide supervision and training to staff and maintain open communication with engagement partner and manager.
