Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown, PC in Columbia, MD or Tysons Corner, VA seeks a Private Client Services Tax Manager to lead tax engagements, supervise staff, and mentor teams while building client relationships.

You’ll review returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships and corporations, draft memoranda, identify tax planning opportunities, resolve controversies, and manage multiple engagements with various teams to meet deadlines. Strong leadership and communication required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. CPA license, JD, or MS in Taxation preferred.
• At least 5 years of public accounting experience, leading multiple engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills; ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring abilities; effective in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Review returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations prepared by staff for accuracy.
• Research and draft memoranda on complex tax matters.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Handle and resolve tax controversies.
• Oversee tax research projects for diverse clients and industries.
• Manage multiple engagements with various teams to meet deadlines.
• Provide guidance and conduct staff development and mentoring.
