Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown is seeking a Private Client Services Tax Manager to lead engagements from our Columbia, MD or Tysons Corner, VA offices. You will supervise staff, mentor teammates, and build strong client relationships while delivering tax planning and compliance for diverse clients.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in accounting with a CPA (JD or MS in Taxation preferred) and bring 5+ years in public tax.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA license; JD or MSc in Taxation also acceptable.
• At least 5 years of public accounting tax experience leading engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and presentation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of tax engagements and supervise staff.
• Research and draft memoranda on complex tax matters.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Handle and resolve tax controversies.
• Oversee tax research projects for diverse clients.
• Manage multiple engagements with various teams to meet deadlines.
• Conduct discussions with team on evaluations and provide guidance.
• Serve in professional development programs as instructor or discussion leader.
