Job summary

Stack Exchange Inc. is seeking a privacy attorney to join the legal team as a strategic partner reporting to the Chief Legal Officer.

You will advise product and engineering on data usage, privacy protections, and regulatory requirements across GDPR, data retention, and access rights. You will draft and negotiate data protection agreements, support security certifications, and provide guidance for global privacy compliance in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from an accredited law school.
• Membership with good standing in at least one U.S. State Bar.
• 6+ years of legal practice experience. In-house legal experience preferred.

• Advise on GDPR, data retention, and data subject access rights-related issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate data protection terms in commercial agreements including DPAs and MSAs.
• Collaborate with InfoSec to obtain and maintain security certifications.
