Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Engineer - Solid Propulsion for an onsite role in Tucson, AZ. The position requires a strong background in solid propulsion, DoD programs, and the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

You will lead propulsion development projects, collaborate across engineering disciplines, manage subcontracts, and interface with customers to define technical requirements while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in STEM with 8+ years experience; advanced degree may substitute.
• Experience developing solid propulsion systems.
• Ability to obtain US government security clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Apply technologies to integrate propulsion systems for missiles and space vehicles.
• Involvement with development and production programs across Raytheon Product Lines.
• Review manufacturing processes and work with subcontractors on propellant systems.
• Collaborate with program management on long-range tech research and future directions.
• Manage propulsion development projects and subcontracts; review data and change requests.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations to management and government agencies.
• Interface with the customer to identify user needs.
• Travel, including internationally, to provide supplier support.
