Job summary

General Dynamics IT seeks a Software Developer Sr Principal to lead architecture and deliver enterprise Java applications for CMS MSPSC. You will steer COB&R design, guide large project teams, and implement scalable RESTful services with a cloud-ready mindset.

You will mentor peers, enforce code quality, and leverage AI-assisted tooling to boost productivity. Strong senior technical leadership is required; remote work is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 10+ years of object-oriented software development.
• 10+ years developing Java web and enterprise applications (Java, web services, HTML, XML).
• 5+ years developing with Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
• 10+ years of SQL experience.
• 5+ years of microservices development.
• 3+ years in a technical lead or architect role with design authority.
• Full-stack Java development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java design patterns and idioms.
• Experience with Git and GitHub, Jira in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the COB&R application's technical architecture and standards.
• Lead technical direction, design reviews, and code reviews for the team.
• Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and patterns; document trade-offs.
• Translate requirements into scalable, secure solutions; modernize legacy components to microservices and cloud-ready architectures.
• Develop enterprise Java web applications and RESTful services.
• Mentor and coach junior developers; promote best practices.
