Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Huntsville, AL seeks a Sr Principal Software Engineer (Algorithm) to design, develop, and lead Java-based mathematical algorithms for SLD to support C2BMC.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and actively participate in agile planning while helping transition prototype algorithms to real-time tactical Java implementations; a DoD secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance required to start.
• 8+ years designing and developing complex mathematical algorithms.
• Experience with data fusion, Kalman filtering, or radar signal processing.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Python; full lifecycle development.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of Java-based mathematical algorithms for SLD to support C2BMC.
• Develop and maintain architecture documents, design artifacts, and technical presentations.
• Implement MATLAB and/or Java prototype software and transition to real-time Java.
• Support code reviews, testing, and verification across lab and flight test environments.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in agile planning and sprint ceremonies.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Integration, Deployment, and Warfighter Support teams.
